The most common response was “It’s about time!” The policyholders and agents viewed this as a positive attempt by their insurer to reduce expenses and premiums by operating more efficiently. The policyholders were also very pleased to have the same auditor each year.

When the time came to expand the project VISTA discovered that most companies hesitate to utilize employee sharing if the company doing the administration was owned by one insurance company. The preferred business model is an independent facility not owned by any single company, which is the structure of VISTA today.

VISTA was established by 2 Mutual insurance companies, whose executives saw the potential efficiencies possible by sharing employees. These Mutual companies began with a pilot territory and were very pleased with the positive reaction of their policyholders and agents.
